Privacy Policy.

How ScreenDesk handles information on this website and in its interactive editor.

1. Who is responsible

ScreenDesk LLC, a company registered in Delaware, United States, operates screendesk.us and is responsible for the website information it controls. References to "ScreenDesk," "we," "us," and "our" in this policy refer to that company. Our address for legal and privacy correspondence is 1209 Orange Street, Wilmington, DE 19801, United States.

Contact us about privacy using the details at the end of this policy. Our Canadian general contact address is listed separately on the Contact page.

2. Scope of this policy

This policy covers visits to screendesk.us, use of the interactive browser editor, and information you choose to provide when contacting us about this website. It does not describe the data practices of desktop applications or independent services you access through external links.

The Download and Source links open the ScreenDesk repository hosted by GitHub. GitHub is an independent service whose website and data processing are governed by its own privacy statement. This policy does not replace GitHub’s policies or describe the data practices of separately distributed software.

3. Information processed

Website requests and technical information

Delivering a webpage involves processing a network address and request information. Our hosting infrastructure and Cloudflare, the site’s network delivery and security provider, can process IP addresses, requested URLs, request times, response status, browser or user-agent information, referring-page information, and connection or security diagnostics. A URL or referrer can contain campaign parameters or other information supplied by your browser.

The web server maintains access and error logs for operation and troubleshooting. Its standard access log can record a connecting IP address, timestamp, request including any query string, response status and size, referrer, and user agent. With proxied traffic, a logged connecting address may be a Cloudflare server address; Cloudflare itself processes the visitor connection. Do not include sensitive personal information in website URLs.

Using the browser editor

The editor’s annotations and playback state are held in the webpage’s memory. It displays an image created for illustration; it does not request screen-capture access, read your files, record your desktop, or transmit screenshot content to us. Leaving or reloading the page resets its state.

Export creates an SVG from the annotated example image in your browser and saves it using your browser’s download mechanism. Copy writes that SVG’s markup to your clipboard only when you select the Copy control and the browser permits it. The editor does not read your clipboard. Browser downloads and clipboard contents remain subject to your browser and device settings.

Contacting us

If you contact us by email, phone, or post, you choose which information to provide. That information may include your name, contact details, message, and any attachments or other material you send. We use it to handle your inquiry and associated follow-up. The website itself has no account registration, email signup, or file-upload form.

4. Purposes and relevant legal grounds

We process website information to deliver pages and assets, maintain availability, diagnose faults, prevent abuse, and respond to inquiries. We may also process information where necessary to comply with an applicable legal obligation, handle a legal claim, or investigate a security incident.

Where applicable law requires a legal basis, routine website delivery, security, and inquiry handling rely on our legitimate interests in operating a reliable website and responding to people who contact us, subject to their rights and reasonable expectations. We rely on legal obligations where processing is required by law and on consent where it is required for a particular optional activity. No optional analytics or advertising measurement is active on the current website.

We do not use editor content for profiling or model training. We do not sell personal information collected through this website or use it for cross-context behavioral advertising. This describes our website practices and does not replace the policies that apply when you visit a third-party destination.

5. Cookies, local storage, and measurement

The current website loads no analytics script or X Ads Pixel and sends no website analytics events. It does not set an analytics or advertising cookie. Fonts and illustrations are served from the website’s own files.

The code supports an optional preference called screendesk-consent in your browser’s local storage. Because measurement is disabled, a new visitor is not asked to set that preference. A preference left from a prior configuration can remain until you clear it. The footer’s Privacy choices control removes that website preference and reloads the page; it does not change Cloudflare or GitHub settings.

Cloudflare may use security cookies or browser checks when its protection features are triggered. Their presence depends on the service configuration and the particular request; the site does not claim that every visitor receives the same cookies. See Cloudflare’s cookie documentation for the purpose of those security technologies.

You can control cookies, local storage, downloads, and clipboard permissions through your browser. Blocking some security or browser functions can affect access or editor controls. If we introduce optional measurement later, we will update this policy and obtain any consent required before activating it.

6. Service providers, external links, and international processing

We use a self-managed virtual server for hosting and Cloudflare for network delivery and security. Infrastructure providers necessarily process request and connection information to make these services work. Cloudflare’s handling of network and security information is described in its Privacy Policy. Its service processing is distinct from the optional website analytics that are disabled here.

Opening a GitHub link sends your browser to an independent service. GitHub then receives the connection and any information your browser sends under its settings; its General Privacy Statement applies. Our current referrer policy normally limits information sent to another HTTPS origin to this site’s origin, subject to browser behavior. No image from the editor is attached to these links.

Email and phone communications also involve the providers you and we use for those channels. We may disclose relevant information where required by law or where reasonably necessary to address fraud, an active security incident, or a legal claim.

Website traffic and communications may be processed in the United States, Canada, and other countries in which the relevant providers operate. Laws and access by public authorities can differ by country. Contact us for information about the providers and international processing relevant to your inquiry; this policy does not promise that all processing occurs in one country.

7. How long information is retained

The origin web server is configured to rotate its web logs daily when they are nonempty and to keep up to 14 rotated files in addition to the current file. This is a file-based rolling rotation setting, not a guaranteed deletion exactly 14 days after each request; quiet periods and operational timing can affect the age of retained records.

Editor playback and annotation state lasts for the current page session. Exported files and clipboard data are controlled by your browser and device. A stored website preference lasts until you clear it or your browser removes it.

We retain correspondence for as long as reasonably needed to respond, document the resolution, and meet applicable legal or security requirements. The nature of the inquiry, unresolved issues, and relevant legal obligations determine the period. Information relating to a specific dispute, investigation, or legal obligation may need to be kept longer. Service providers have their own retention practices, including those described in the policies linked above.

8. Security

The website uses HTTPS for delivery. Server access is restricted, and the hosting setup uses a firewall, security updates, and controls against unauthorized login attempts. These measures reduce risk but do not make any online service completely secure. Please limit information sent in an inquiry to what is necessary to resolve it.

9. Your choices and privacy rights

Depending on the law applicable to you and the information concerned, you may be entitled to request access, correction, deletion, portability, or a restriction of processing; object to particular processing; or withdraw consent for processing that relies on consent. Withdrawing consent does not change the lawfulness of earlier processing. Some rights are subject to legal exceptions.

Send a request using the contact details below and identify the information or interaction concerned. We may need reasonable information to verify the request and protect other people’s data. We will handle requests within the time required by applicable law and explain any applicable limitation. A complaint can also be made to the privacy regulator responsible for your jurisdiction. You do not have to waive a statutory right to use the website.

10. Children

This website is intended for a professional and general business audience and is not directed to children. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, contact us so that we can assess the situation and take appropriate action under applicable law.

11. Changes to this policy

We will publish updates here with a revised effective date. If a change introduces a materially different use of personal information, we will provide any additional notice and seek any consent required by applicable law before that new use begins.

12. Privacy contact
